A range of species-rich grasslands including Upland acid and Upland hay meadows are being enhanced and created within an area formally identified in the local enhancement strategy and sit on the northern side of the Wear Valley. This site straddles zones of Habitat Network Expansion, Restoration and Restoration-Creation.
Habitat enhancements also include Scot's Pine, mixed woodland, individual tree planting and hedgerow creation.
Currently progressing through the registration process with Natural England. The site supports a growing number of wildflowers, grasses, insects, butterflies, bats, and birds, enhancing local ecological connectivity.
