Following discussions with local authorities, I shall be re-referencing the BNG locations using ODGB36 Grid References rather than National Grid Field Numbers - which are essentially the same numbers, but in a different order. Actually makes sense, because it’s the centre of the site whereas the field numbers include areas not enhanced.

The way in which a Developer may discharge it's BNG condition is now becoming clearer and differs from the way Nutrient Neutrality has been handled by LPAs: A developer will have to submit a Biodiversity Gain Plan (BGP) as a post-permission document for approval. This BGP will have to be approved by the LPA before development can commence.

Draft secondary legislation published which provides the detail for the new biodiversity net gain (BNG) framework. There are six statutory instruments which will become law when BNG goes live in January 2024.
